Choosing a Kitchen Window Covering

By: Osmundo Bernabe

Your kitchen is the room where you will spend quality time with your family. It is the background for preparing meals, sharing conversation with children before they leave for school, and the setting for the evening dinner conversation. Your kitchen window covering should enhance the flavor of your décor while providing the room with a friendly and open atmosphere. Some wonderful kitchen window treatments include: curtains, valances, blinds, and shades. One of the most important features that people decide upon when choosing a kitchen window covering is to use either solid colors or vivid patterns.

Colors or Patterns

Because your kitchen is associated with creativity, conversation, and enjoyment you can use more liberal themes in your décor than you can in any other room in your house. For instance, a window covering splattered with hot chili peppers may look great in your kitchen but wouldn’t be appropriate for your living room. So with that in mind, you can choose any type of playful design that you like for your kitchen. If you have a theme already in place, then you may choose to purchase curtains that compliment the theme. IF you would rather bypass the strawberries or country geese, you can always use solid colors for a beautiful kitchen window effect.

Color and Mood for Your Kitchen Window Covering

The colors that you choose for your kitchen will set your overall mood for the room. If you are planning your color scheme, then you may want to consider some of these decorating tips. Yellow is often used to create a larger area and is generally associated with inspiration and energy, where orange is useful for stimulating appetite. Many kitchens make use of both yellow and orange. Green and blue are both revered for having a calming affect, and red and purple are known for creating and stimulating passion and excitement.
