Country Wood Blinds – Ideal Window TreatmentsBy: Osmundo Bernabe
Country wood blinds make the ideal window treatment for homes that have a rustic, antique or prairie theme to them. They also suit some areas of a home that is Victorian, such as a closed porch, especially if they are painted black, grey or dark green. The reason that something so country looking can still suit something so formal is that traditionally country styles actually have the same design references and are influenced by traditional, French, Danish, Swedish and English house and furnishing designs.
Cottages are also very well suited for country wood blinds. This is because many models can be shut right up just like storm windows. This makes closing your cottage up at the end of the cottage season simple as all you have to do is rotate a few knobs and all of the windows are completely sealed up. Country wood blinds best suit decors that are simple and a bit raw looking which is exactly what most cottages look like. They are a nice choice for a vacation home because they go with everything and are easy to care for. Country wood blinds also make the ideal décor for a farm house or a country house especially if it is decorated in the traditional old fashioned design schemes which can include elements such as checkered or floral tablecloths and curtains, padded rocking chairs, stuffed couches and tables and chairs made out of slightly unfinished looking wood such as pine or cedar. This type of shutter also goes well with homes that are made out of stone, making it appear like the kind of dwelling that you might see in a children’s storybook. There are also some Asian style decors that also suit county wood blinds especially if the blinds are very spare and square in shape. Dark red woods, and woods that are painted black or bright cherry red can suit a home with an Asian décor quite well. If you like a cute effect, you can also customize your country wood blinds by painting a pattern on them. For instance if you have a rocking chair or dining room table with a motif that features bluebirds you could also mimic the same pattern in the corners of the blinds. Before installing country wood blinds it is a good idea to try and have the wood or the color it is painted somehow match the floors, walls or furniture that is in your house. Light colored woods tend to look more casual and rustic than dark colored woods. If you are a rural dweller another nice idea is to obtain your country wood blinds in a natural colored wood that picks up the natural hues of the trees in the forest that surround your home.
